News of Colombian-American actress Sofia Vergara’s split from her husband, Joe Manganiello, shocked many – especially as the pair seemed so perfect for each other.
Vergara and Manganiello had been married for seven years, and were seen together for the last time just a month ago in Hoboken, N.J., when Vergara visited her actor husband on set for his latest project titled Nonnas with Vince Vaughn.
The attractive duo first met in 2014 at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and they were introduced by one of Vergara’s Modern Family co-stars, Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Vergara, who is a judge on the NBC hit America’s Got Talent, was in Italy recently, celebrating her birthday with her friends and her husband very noticeably missing from the festivities.
Fans grew even more suspicious about his absence when the actress posted a picture with the caption: “When life gives u lemons u come to Italy to squeeze them.”
Manganiello then posted a birthday tribute to his wife by writing: “!!Feliz Cumpleaños Sofía!!!” with a grainy, zoomed in photo of them on Instagram.
Though, fans felt his wish was a little ‘cold’, and began suspecting that there was trouble in paradise.
“Something is off. Cold message for her and has two stories about his dog’s birthday. And sofia has not even said thank you,” one person commented underneath the post.
Vergara – who is best known for her role as Gloria on Modern Family – has continued to keep posting photos and videos of her lavish vacation in Italy. One of the images in particular was met with a comment from her co-star, Julie Bowen, shortly after the announcement of Vergara’s divorce from Manganiello.
The post featured Vergara in a cheeky blue leopard print thong swimsuit, captioned: “Last days of vacay! Even when u r so hot I love u Ravello!!!” Bowen’s comment underneath read: “This is what single and [fire emoji] looks like!!!”
The divorce announcement came late last week, with the couple sharing a joint statement with Page Six, stating: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
In a 2019 interview with Men’s Health, Manganiello said he “really liked” being with his wife, and said: “But when we’re at home, we’re opposites in all the best ways, and we’re compatible in all the best ways.”
He continued: “My life is great because I really like my wife. I like talking to her. I like goofing around with her. We f***ing laugh all day long every day. My favorite thing in the world is making my wife laugh so much she cries. It’s the best.”
Well, it certainly looks like Sofia Vergara is not fazed by her recent split!
